Rob Eggebrecht has spent his entire career riding — and often predicting — the next big wave in technology.
His roots in tech and business trace back to his father, Lew Eggebrecht, a dairy farmer turned tech pioneer who helped architect the original IBM PC and later served on the board of Broadcom. That upbringing gave Rob a unique early lens into global business and innovation. By the time he graduated from the University of Denver with a degree in International Business — including time at the Goethe-Institut in Germany and Copenhagen Business School — he’d already lived in 13 different places. He learned how to adapt fast and read any room.
His early career spanned international assignments in Japan, London, and Copenhagen, bridging advanced networking technologies and business strategy on a global scale. From point-of-sale systems to the telco boom with Qwest and Level 3, he played key roles in launching global carrier services and the academic and research backbone of the Internet, including Internet2 and Texas’s TexAN 2000 project.
That momentum led Rob into early-stage startups: Virtela Communications, where he helped launch international managed VPN services, and Gemplex, where he led global business development before its acquisition by India’s VSNL. He had his first taste of cybersecurity with OneSecure and NetScreen and saw where the next big shift was coming.

Rob founded his first company, BEW Global, with $300K of his own capital. That business would become a pioneer in data loss prevention services, growing into InteliSecure — one of Vontu’s largest global partners — with $30M+ in revenue, 200+ employees, and global operations across the US, UK, and Saipan. He led the company through a PE recap, acquired UK-based Pentura, and helped position it for a successful $62M exit to Proofpoint in 2019.
After a short break skiing with his kids in Vail, Rob joined Deloitte as a Principal. He launched their Cloud Data Risk practice and helped enterprises adopt emerging technologies like Netskope, Zscaler, SkyHigh, and BitGlass, giving him a front-row seat to the next tech inflection point.
But Rob’s entrepreneurial drive pulled him back to the founder seat – this time with Cloudrise, focused on cloud security, SASE, and DSPM. Over five years, he raised capital, acquired two companies (in the US and UK), and scaled to $10.3M in revenue — most of it recurring, margin-rich services — before selling to Exclusive Networks in late 2024.
Rob has helped generate over $100 million in enterprise value through founder-led companies and strategic advisory roles, including OverwatchID, which was acquired by SailPoint.
Rob is now building his third company: EggNest.ai, an AI-native services firm focused on implementation, governance, and enablement. He also leads EggNest Advisors, helping tech-driven companies scale with confidence — from GTM execution to ops design to cloud and cybersecurity strategy.
He doesn't do consulting. He builds with founders.
WHAT KEEPS ROB GROUNDED
Outside the boardroom, Rob is all-in on life. He’s a devoted husband, proud father of two grown kids, and the kind of guy who believes mountain air, music, and meaning are the antidotes to burnout. A lifelong skier and mountain biker, he spends as much time as possible chasing fresh lines in Colorado, British Columbia, and Japan — though lately, the challenge is just keeping up with the kids.
Music is his recharge. Uplifting trance and melodic sets are his go-to soundtrack for reflection, focus, and flow — whether on a backcountry drive or pushing through another startup sprint.
Nearly a decade into recovery, Rob also gives back quietly but consistently, supporting others navigating the path out of addiction. It’s a part of his story he never hides — a source of strength that keeps him grounded, grateful, and growing.
